Every row and response,
a finished document.

MergeHop turns Google Sheets rows and Google Forms responses into polished Docs and PDFs. Every single time, it writes the result back to the row and quietly retries anything that fails.

How it works

Set it up once. Hop on with your day.

Three quick steps inside Google Sheets. No code, no scripts to babysit.

Status written to the row

Make documents, or go automatic

Click Make documents for the whole sheet, or switch on automatic mode so every new form response gets its own document.

Built to be dependable

Friendly on the outside. Stubbornly reliable inside.

Every single time, each row ends up with its Doc and PDF, or tells you in plain English what went wrong and how to fix it.

Reliable, row by row

If Google says slow down, that one row waits and tries again instead of the whole batch failing. Temporary errors are retried automatically.

↻Waiting, then trying again
✓Row 6 · Doc and PDF saved

Retries, not silent failures

Anything left over is one click away with Retry failed rows. In automatic mode, failed rows are retried about once an hour.

The output folder is in the Drive trash. Restore it, or choose another folder in step 2. Then use Retry failed rows.

Status on every row

Three columns show each row's status and link straight to its Doc and PDF, in plain English.

Only the files you pick

MergeHop uses Google's narrow permission. It can open only the template and folder you choose, the files it makes, and the sheet you have open. Nothing else in your Drive, which keeps school and company IT happy.

Why switch from Autocrat

Autocrat made merging popular. MergeHop is built to keep it working.

Autocrat is free and widely used, with more than 84 million installs on its Marketplace listing. If it works for you, keep it. If it has been breaking, here is what is different.

Autocrat
MergeHop
Drive access it asks for
All your Drive files, plus all Docs, Sheets and Slides
Only the template, folder and files you pick, plus the open sheet
Reliability

FAQ

Good questions.

Still curious? Our support page is the fastest way to reach us.

PrivacyDo my documents pass through MergeHop's servers?

No. MergeHop runs inside your own Google account. Document contents never touch MergeHop servers. Your template, your sheet and every file it makes stay in your Google Drive.

Can MergeHop see my whole Drive?

No. It uses Google's narrow "only files you pick" permission, so it can open just the template and folder you choose, the files it creates, and the sheet you have open.

Where are my documents saved?

In the Drive folder you choose, in your own Google account. You can also let MergeHop create a "MergeHop Output" folder for you.

What happens if a row fails?

The row shows the reason in plain English. Fix it and click Retry failed rows. In automatic mode, failed rows are also retried about once an hour.

Does it work with Google Forms?

Yes. Link your form to the sheet, open MergeHop and switch on Automatic for form responses. Each new response gets its document as soon as it arrives.

I use Autocrat today. Do I need a new template?

You need a Google Doc with placeholders in double curly braces, like {{Name}}, that match your column headers. If your template uses a different tag style, update the tags and you are ready.

Do I need a Google account?

Yes. MergeHop is an add on that runs inside Google Sheets.
